Air Moldova's history

Air Moldova was created in 1993 following the dissolution of USSR and the country’s independence. The company is publicly owned. In February 2004, Air Moldova added a second AB320 to its fleet, thus starting to use only western-made aircrafts on its European routes. In July 2004 Air Moldova became a full member of IATA.

In Italy, on top of its route to Roma, starting October 2007 Air Moldova started to link non-stop Chisinau and Milano Malpensa (in cooperation with Meridiana). From summer 2012, Air Moldova also started to operate flights from Verona to Chisinau and from Bologna to Chisinau. Such new flights were added to the traditional ones (three per week) from Rome to Chisinau and from Milan Malpensa to Chisinau. Starting December 2013 flights from Venice to Chisinau have been re-started.

Since 1 April 2014 Air Moldova has added two new routes from Chisinau: Antalya and Barcelona. Starting 16 December 2014, Air Moldova serves also Turin from Chisinau, twice per week. In April 2015 Air Moldova re-activated direct flight from Chisinau to Vienna and Madrid. From 14 June 2016 Air Moldova operate direct flights between Florence and Chisinau, thus connecting Chisinau with 7 cities in Italy. Such flights have been discontinued on 14 May 2019, though they are planned to be re-acvtivated from October 2019. In April and May 2019 two new routes, to Nice and Thessaloniki, were activated. From 26 October 2019 and until 27 March 2020, Air Moldova will temporarily reduce its flights to Italy, in particular disabling flights to Turin, Verona and Venice. It is expected that these flights will be reactivated with the summer season, starting from April 2020.

Air Moldova serves numerous international destinations from its base in Chisinau, in particular: Antalya, Athens, Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Dublin, Florence, Frankfurt, Kiev, Krasnodar, Istanbul, Larnaca, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, Paris, Rome, San Petersbourg, Tel Aviv, Turin, Venice, Verona, Vienna.
