Unaccompanied minors

Rules and advice to guarantee a smooth trip to your children travelling alone

For minor passengers travelling in the absence of an accompanying adult, Air Moldova provides a service called "Unaccompanied Minor" which allows minors to travel alone and whose cost amounts to € 70 each way.

The service is actually provided only on flights operated by Air Moldova. Flights operated by other carriers such as Meridiana do not provide this type of assistance.

For all the minors with Moldovan citizenship between 5 and 18 years, the service is mandatory when departing from Moldova to Italy, while for trips from Italy to Moldova it is compulsory for minors aged between 5 and 14 years. All children under the age of 5 years, however, are obliged to travel with an adult.

Minors may travel with a relative or tutor provided they have a written authorization from a parent, in which the latter authorizes the child to travel with a specific person. For all minors departing from Moldova who are traveling alone the "Unaccompanied Minor" service is mandatory. In addition, all children of Moldovan citizenship must hold a "Procura", a mandatory document according to the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, which can be obtained from the consulates of Moldova in Italy in Rome, Padova and Milan, or in Moldova at one of the notaries authorized by Air Moldova.

It is compulsory for a Moldovan minor who travels from Chisinau to one of the Italian cities served by Air Moldova to have, in addition to the "Procura", also his/her own residence permit. If the child has a residence permit "attached" to that of one of the parents, Italian border police authorities may sanction the airline and refuse entry to Italy. To avoid this last case, we suggest that bookings of minors who travel alone are made ​​directly at GS AIR offices in Rome and Milan, in order to proceed with preventive control with the border authorities. For purchases made from other agents / offices, GS AIR will not be able to provide assistance.

When requesting for the "Unaccompanied Minor" service, parents must communicate their phone number, address of residence and number of identity document of the person accompanying the minor upon departure and of the one who will be waiting at airport of arrival.

The carer of the child, for safety reasons, must remain in the airport until the take off of the flight on which the child is boarded. The minors will only be delivered to the adult indicated in the request form filled-in by the parents.
